Where did you get those jeans?

Have you ever walked down the street and seen someone in the exact jeans you designed in your head to go with the cute top you bought in the sale last week? It can be a bit daunting to walk up to a complete stranger and ask where they got something from, so fashion guru’s have answered your prayers.

ASAP54 is a new app which works in a similar way to shazam, but for fashion. Using visual recognition technology, the app finds similar items to what you’re looking for and can even find the exact item you’re searching for. You’re welcome.

All you have to do is take a quick pic of the outfit you want to make your own and voila! The app works its magic. The picture can be taken of a real-life piece of clothing or something you’ve seen in a magazine. It’s basically the app you’ve been dreaming of all your life.

If you’re thinking, isn’t it a bit creepy to take a picture of someone walking down the street, well yes, it is a bit, but think of it this way, people take pictures in public all the time and if someone wearing a ridiculously beautiful jacket just happens to be in the background of your picture, that’s not your fault.

Though it’s not the apps primary use, another way you can use the app to its full potential is by using it to shop smart! As students, we can’t always afford the shoes we saw in the pricey boutique shop, but, what you can do, is take a picture and let the app find you similar, perhaps cheaper alternatives. There’s got to be a bargain in the making there.
